22nd Annual Music Festival & Auction

Saturday, October 9 - 11 am-3 pm

The time has arrived to begin planning for the annual Music Festival and Auction to be held Saturday, October 9. Did you know that over the years, the Auction has played a critical part in meeting our annual budget here at St Stephen? Twenty-two years ago, the idea of holding an auction in September to assist with closing the gap on the church’s budget deficit was born. Ever since that time, the auction has been held and the funds raised have been placed into the church’s general fund to provide a kick-start to meeting our budget by the end of the year. This year is no exception. In fact, we are faced with a larger than usual budget deficit of close to $60,000. If you ever thought it important to donate time, talent, or treasure to the auction, this year would be that time.

We are especially looking for people who are willing to donate a service. This can be something you do every day in your business (website creation, carpentry, painting, house cleaning, plumbing, etc) that you would like to donate some hours. Or perhaps you have a special hobby (sewing, quilting, photography, baking, gardening, yard work, snow blowing, mowing, singing, etc) to donate. There are many seniors in our church who are in need of repair work around their house, assistance with grocery shopping, and other critical services that they would love to see offered.

As a special incentive to those people who would like to donate to our “service” category, Tara Owen, a professional photographer (www.taraleephotography.com), has offered to provide a free sitting to all those donating a service. Your 5x7 photo (one of which you can keep FREE) will be posted on a board (also run on the television monitor) where we will list your business or the service you are giving, your contact information, and a short bio about you. This is like having a free business advertisement! What better way to promote your business or something you love to do. We will offer the sitting one day in September at church (date to be announced).

Tara will also be donating a gift certificate to the auction. Did we mention she will come to your house? No need to go to a studio. (This is for the donated photography, not the advertisement photograph.)

The time to start submitting your service ideas is NOW. We want to have the board jam packed with donated items and photos by September 26th. Let’s not keep this to just members of St Stephen. Do you have a family member or friend who has been out of work or trying to promote a new business? What better way to get your name out there than to donate a few hours of your time toward a good cause. Simply fill out the slip below and e-mail or give to Betsy Clark, Cathy Silverberg, any council member, or Jennifer in the office.

If you have any questions about this, please contact Betsy Clark, Cathy Silverberg, Nicole Ternus, or any council member.

Blessings!   Betsy Clark
