The St. Stephen Youth and Confirmation program seeks to foster life-long involvement in the church, nourish growth as disciples in Christ, and develop witnesses of the Gospel through opportunities for youth of all ages. There are a multitude of opportunities for youth of all ages to lead, participate, and be led in a variety of programming in support of this programming.
Confirmation instruction begins in 6th grade with students being confirmed in the fall of their 9th grade year (for the group of students starting Confirmation in 2011-12 we will have a combination 6th and 7th grade group of students as we transition to the earlier starting age.) The success of Confirmation programming is found in an active and strong partnership between parents, students, confirmation leaders, and the congregation. Instruction occurs in both large and small group settings; regularly scheduled instruction and special events/activities and retreats.
In addition to Confirmation instruction; Senior High youth (6-10th grades) and TIM Team youth (Teens in Mission) have the opportunity to grow spiritually through additional education and service opportunities and fellowship with one another. Special service activities and fellowship events are planned to encourage and support these young adults as they go forward and walk in Jesus’ footsteps.
