Final Report

Iringa — Report and pictures were received Sun August 1.

Sunday August 1st, in Iringa:

This is the sixth and final report from the Tanzania Mission Team as we prepare to leave Iringa (panorama below, taken downtown).

As we are writing this people at St. Stephen are in the middle of the 9:00 service. We have just completed a six hour marathon worship service at the Cathedral Church in Iringa. The first of three services began at 7:00 am and we left right at 1:00. It was fun to be there, but more than one individual was "dragging" by the third service. P.J. got out of preaching duties as a visiting Bishop from Namburg, Germany was present and he carried out that responsibility. We received communion, but the wine was watered down, so we’re all a little suspicious of critters. We met 2 Bible Camp students from this year and 4 from last year at the church service which was exciting!

The Bible Camp concluded yesterday (closing music shown below) as we sent the 19 students home after a week doing Bible Camp activities and studying computer and English. Our student group included 2 Pastors, 4 evangelists, 15 secondary students and 4 students who have recently completed primary school. 7 students were married with a total of 16 kids at home. Most would be thankful for financial help in attending secondary school or university. Apparently, there was a misunderstanding about what time the students were supposed to depart and unfortunately they left without saying goodbye. Most of us were waiting for a big send-off at 10:00, when we got there the bulk of students had already left bout 9:30. There were 4 students remaining who did not know when they were supposed to leave so fortunately we at least got to sat goodbye to them.

Yesterday also marked Mary Lou Linder's birthday. Although she refused to admit the exact number of years, we're pretty sure it is greater than 29!

Friday night several of our students were wearing their American Cancer Society T-shirts at the same time you all participated in the Relay for Life in White Bear Lake.

In Christ,
