Tumaini University. — Report and pictures were received Thr July 29.

Thursday July 29th, at Tumaini University:

The week has flown by here at Tumaini University.  It’s really a joy getting to know the students on an individual basis. They range greatly in age and overall situation. The campus situation is greatly improved, not only do we have access to the internet, but the dorms have consistent running water. One dorm (the men's!!) has warm, solar-powered water. (The men guard the door while the women sneak in for showers.)

Perhaps the biggest challenge in our classes is the very wide range of English language skills among the students. In a couple cases we have been challenged to do anything constructive. In others, students are moving ahead quickly and are very skilled in English and learn computer skills easily.

English language class creates some interesting situations as we demonstrate the verb
"to carry."

Once again, s’mores are a fun part of our evening, even though the students have been taking their time "warming up" to them. Last night and the night before the Tanzanian students shared song and dance with us, actually it looked like the precursor of break dancing!! We are all attempting to learn the various steps, Pastor Jim has provided many moments of hilarity for us all. His two left feet cause problems with dances requiring use of both the right and left.

A great highlight of the campfires has been teaching and learning the Virginia Reel. The students have really enjoyed this traditional American folk dance. The first time we did the dance, it took about 20 minutes since we did one dance as a whole group.

Pastor Eva Msigwa visited us from Lukani on Wednesday. She brought gifts on behalf of the congregation at Lukani. Bill joked that heard a bleating goat outside the room, but we were relieved to receive baskets, spoons and decorative spades!
